Top Tips for the Upcoming Exams

The examinations will begin soon! Below are some tips to help you prepare.

1. Plan Your Study Time

Make your study schedule practical, flexible and realistic. Your Library provides over 4,000 seats for your quiet study during the daytime. The Library has also implemented the following special arrangements.

The Chung Chi Elizabeth Moore Library is open 24 hours. (Nov 27 – Dec 21)
Its Late Reading Room opens as follows:

·         Monday to Friday: 9:30 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. (next day)
·         Saturday to Sunday: 6:30 pm (Sat) - 9:00 am (the following Mon)

Late Reading Rooms in New Asia College Ch’ien Mu Library and United College Wu Chung Multimedia Library are open 24 hours. (Nov 23 – Dec 22)

The Ground Floor of the UL New Extension is open 24 hours and designated as a silent study zone at night. (Nov 27 – Dec 21)

Make use of the 24-hour study facilities

University Library: The Learning Garden is open 24 hours, with more than 850 study seats available. The Ground Floor mentioned above and the Quiet Study Zone in the Learning Garden at night are designated for silent individual study.

Branch Libraries and WMY Learning Commons:

Architecture Library (open 24 hours for School of Architecture staff and students)

Li Ping Medical Library at Prince of Wales Hospital

Learning Commons at 6th Floor of Wu Ho Man Yuan (WMY) Building

Find a comfortable seat that works for you!

* Please be considerate and help to keep the study places clean.


2. Past Exam Papers

Go through the past exam papers to review what kind of questions have been set in the past and the relationship between the questions and the course content.

3. Study in Groups

Teamwork and collaborative learning can be fun and useful. Bubble Group Study Rooms in the Learning Garden are open 24 hours during the exam.


4. Library Guide on Exam Skills

Have a look at the library guide on exam skills (http://libguides.lib.cuhk.edu.hk/c.php?g=549209&p=3836452) to get more information and resources on exam-taking strategies.



5. Relax

Take a short break and play chess in the Chess and Games area in the Learning Garden if you feel bored or cannot concentrate on your study. To restore your willpower, have a hot beverage and some snacks in the Refreshment Zone.

6. Adequate Sleep

Don’t forget to have enough sleep the night before the exam.
